AI and equity at this point in the cycle, at the GP/LP Summit in New York
Informa's GP/LP Summit at the Union League Club: a panel on AI in deal evaluation and asset management, and a day of conversations about where equity is going next.
IMN’s Real Estate GP/LP Summit, at the Union League Club in New York. I was on “The AI Co-Pilot,” a panel on AI in deal evaluation, asset management and portfolio intelligence. Dylan Payne of Juniper Square moderated. With me on the panel were Bo Diamond, co-founder and managing partner of Caisson Capital Partners; Yaakov Zar, founder and CEO of Lev; and Justin Spillers, partner at Real Estate Alpha.
We talked about how we’re using AI at Savoy, and about how equity will be investing at this point in the cycle.
The panel was the smaller part of the trip. I spent most of it meeting with family offices and institutional investors, and with other operators from around the country.
What I took away:
- There is still capital that wants to invest with operators who deeply understand their niche, in deals that are either distressed or in an area that will thrive over a long-term hold.
- Vertical integration matters.
- So does a track record. Having avoided distress and foreclosure over the past few years is a very important part of the story.
